Our Teachers

Lisa Fernance

Ms Lisa Fernance was Co-Principal of the Rogerson Ballet Academy for 13 years. She is a fully qualified teacher with a R.A.D. Diploma in Teaching. She is also a F.A.T.D. Licentiate Member Tap and Modern Dance and was an F.A.T.D. Executive Panel Member for ten years and B.B.O registered teacher.

Lisa now resides in Cooma and is a freelance Dance teacher. Lisa was an appointed Member of the R.A.D. ACT / Riverina Regional Advisory Panel for three years.

Her students consistently achieve high results in set examination, eisteddfods and other dance competitions, both as solo competitors and in troupes choreographed by her. Her successes at City of Sydney Eisteddfod are note-worthy, past students awarded bronze Adeline Genee and finalist Prix de Leausanne.

She taught H.S.C Ballet for five years with outstanding results. Past students being first in 2 and 3 Unit Classical Ballet Performance.

Previous students have preformed with Royal Ballet London, Australian Ballet, Graz Ballet Co, New Zealand Ballet, Vienna Festival Ballet, Capetown Ballet Company, Disney Productions, Dance Encore Productions Dianne Heaton, Star Casino, Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruise Lines Darc Swan, W.A Performing Arts, Moulin Rouge, Bootmen, and Saturday Night Fever.

Lisa has adjudicated over 30 dance competitions in New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and New Zealand. 


Lisa was responsible for choreography in the Journey to the Olympics and Opening Ball. Students danced in parades and concerts, Lisa was an official Marshall in Parades, for the Sydney Olympics

Barbara  Rogerson

Ms Rogerson is a well renowned ballet and dance teacher that has been teaching dancing for over 40 years. She trained with Kathleen Gorham and Leon Kellaway. She is a registered teacher with the R.A.D and the A.D.A (Formerly F.A.T.D.). 

In 2004 Ms. Rogerson was honoured to recieve the R.A.D. Presidents Award. She ran a very successful dance school in Sydney and has been a member of the Sydney, A.C.T Riverin ,and Southern Region R.A.D Regional Advisory Panels.

Previous students have performed in Royal Ballet, Australian Ballet, New Zealand Ballet, Graz Ballet, Vienna Festival Ballet, Disney Productions, Dance Encore and many more, as well as winning classical competitions such as the Prix De Lausanne and the Adeline Genee.

Barbara has adjudicated at many Eisteddfods and Scholarships in NSW, Queensland, Western Australia and Victoria.

Leah McGowan
Kerryn Fryirs

Leah started dancing at 2 years of age. She commenced her studies with Rogerson Ballet Academy in Sydney. She studied all genres of theatrical dance with renowned teachers including Barbara Rogerson and John Byrne.
 

Leah has always been very passionate about all facets of the performing arts. She is very outgoing and was honoured to be able to perform an improvisation set in front of a large audience on the Disney Magic with Greg Triggs in 2016.


Leah has studied RAD ballet to Advanced level in the Vocational stream and Grade 8 in graded exams receiving distinction at all levels. She was placed in the finals of the Betsy Sawyers award for classical and the FATD South Pacific Theatre Dance Championships. Leah has had the opportunity to perform alongside iconic Australian performers such as Vanessa Amorossi and Bud Tingwell.

 

Leah has recently started adjudicating dance competitions and is keen to continue exploring this area of dance.


Leah has been teaching for over 5 years, she completed her teachers examinations with the ADA in tap and jazz receiving distinctions and is a registered teacher in BBO. Her students undertake yearly examinations with excellent results.

Leah has won several Choreographic awards. She has choreographed local charity productions and been invited to choreograph the local theatre production of Cabaret.
