2017 Guest Teachers 

Joady Chambers

Born in Sydney, Joady studied in the Royal Academy of Dancing syllabus at Rogerson ballet Academy obtaining her Solo Seal. In 1978 she won the RAD Bursary and was accepted into the Australian ballet School. Once there she was awarded the Australian Ballet Society Scholarship and danced the leads in “Lady and the Fool”.

Joady joined the Australian Ballet Company and was quickly promoted to coryphee then soloist. The same year she became the first dancer to recieve the Annual Dancers Overseas Scolarship which enabled her to spend time in both New York and London training with England’s most respected freelance teachers John O’Brian.

Lead roles include Swan lake, Taming of the Shrew, Equs and Don Quixote.

​

After leaving the company to have a family Joady taught as a freelance teacher at Mc Donald College teaching  from Pre Primary level through to Advanced students auditioning for professional ballet schools and companies.

Kim Traynor

ARAD Solo Seal

Kim Traynor trained in Scully – Boravansky, attaining her R.A.D Solo Seal. After completing her studies at the Royal Ballet School in London she joined the Deutsche Opera Am Rhein, Düsseldorf. Upon her return to the Australian Ballet she toured extensively to China, the Middle East and Europe.


Together with MR Kevin Coe OBE and Miss Donna Traynor, Kim the founded the New South Wales College of Dance servicing the Professional dance community with their Junior School in Sydney. She has been with the Victorian College of the Arts and Lecturer in Classical Ballet and Currently freelances throughout Sydney, Newcastle, Victoria and New Zealand and well as adjudicating Senior Eisteddfods.

Matt Geronimi chose to pursue dance as a career not long after embarking on a ballroom journey from the age of 8, which quickly lead him to winning Australian Junior Champion for Ballroom and Latin and World Representative for Australia for Junior World Latin. He is also trained in jazz, tap, hip hop, contemporary, modern and ballet.

Matt’s credits include; Primary Dancer on numerous Australian Tours with Nikki Webster, danced in the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games Opening and Closing ceremonies, 22nd in the world for Youth World Ten Dance and Finalist on channel 2 Strictly Dancing all before the age of 16. Matt then went on to study full time at Brent Street. Since then he has been a guest entertainer for Royal Caribbean cruise lines, Top 10 finalist on So You Think You Can Dance. Principal dancer on X Factor 2010, principal dancer in the motion picture Happy Feet 1 & 2, Dancer in Lady Gaga’s Sydney Monster Ball and Dancer in the world premier of The Illusionists at the Sydney Opera House which he then toured with the production around Australia and Singapore.

In 2013 Matt danced for the NRL Grand Final along side Jessica Mauboy and Ricky Martin and also performed in the Australia’s Got Talent Finale. Matt has recently returned from touring with the Illusionists 2.0 Company performing in the World Premiere in Adelaide, Sydney and Brisbane 2013/2014.

In 2014 Matt has travelled extensively with The Illusionists 2.0 company as a dancer and magician assistant. He was also assistant dancer and choreographer to Juliette Verne for a piece in So You Think You Can Dance Australia. Matt has recently performed in the opening number for the Rob Guest Endowment held at The Capital Theatre in Sydney. 2014 also saw Matt as choreographer for Southern Star. In the June/July school holidays in 2014 Matt was a featured ensemble member in Bonnie Lithgoe

Productions "Snow White; A Winter Musical" with Magda Szubanski. Peter Evrett, Kyle Sandilands and many more... A lot of these highlights has allowed Matt to work with world renowned choreographers such as Jason Coleman, Jason Gilkinson, Matt Lee, Kelly Abbey and the iconic Wade Robson.
